We are waiting to implement direct online credit card processing until we are sure that we can give the same level of security to our customers online as we can to our customers who walk into our bricks-and-mortar gallery location.

Today, with the major credit card data-capture corporations such as Verifone and the major browser companies, Microsoft and Netscape working together, online security is usually as safe as giving your credit card to a waiter when dining out, or when completing a mail order transaction. But there are concerns. That is why we give our cutomers the option of contacting us directly, and speaking with a human being, to place your order. We're a small, family business, and anyone handling your credit card information and order is related to us! We are sure our customers all still benefit from the direct, personal contact that we offer to those wishing to order -- we also like the opportunity to discuss the details of what you are looking for and any other options we might suggest, first hand.

• Our commitment to your security is your assurance that your credit card and personal data will not be accessible to anyone other than the retail merchant you intend to receive it.

• Secured Servers are certified and rated as to their level of security. Some are more secure than others. They also are slower than a regular server in accessing and transmiting requested data. That is why, in the event of automated processing being enabled in the future, we will only utilize a secured server for the portion of a transaction where the actual order confirming credit card number, personal information, etc., is submitted by the shopper. This saves you time browsing and while in the online shopping pages. If you leave the secured server by hitting the [BACK] button, the security symbols will revert to unsecured status. Be sure that before hitting the [ORDER] button, the security symbols are activated to show your transaction is secured.

• At Kiva, since all of our items are one of a kind, your credit card will not actually be charged until the item(s) actually ship. Your secured information will be transmitted in a secured space online, or, if you prefer, we will run your information through our electronic data-capture terminal at our actual gallery location before packaging your order. In this situation, your confirming Email message may not be sent out until a day or two later than the date your order was placed online. Most will be sent the same day.  At no time will any of your secured credit card information, personal information or order information be seen by anyone not employed by Kiva. It will never be sent out in any Email message, or even retained in our database. We will delete financial information from our data records as the item is shipped, while retaining shipping data, etc. You will need to give us the information again the next time you order, but this way, your security will never be compromised at Kiva.
