| Handmade 4 Strand Spiney Oyster, Turquoise and Shell Necklace! This wonderful, Southwestern necklace features 4 full strands of traditional tumbled, handmade beads! The beads are made from shaped pen-shells to create a finely-finished base strand, accented by chip beads made from Spondylous oyster shell, and turquoise. Scroll all the way down for a close-up shot.
These are all traditional materials for Pueblo and Navajo necklaces dating back more than 1000 years. The beads are stung upon stranded nylon, gathered at the top in sterling silver cones, and were probably Navajo made in the 1970s. They exhibit a nice weight, though not too heavy for comfortable beach wear. Sometimes referred to as "Heishi Treasure Necklaces", the entire necklace measures 16" long, overall with hook/eye clasp. The necklace bears no hallmark, and the artist is unknown, but this is a great way to show off traditional, Southwestern style!
