Handmade Sterling 20 Strand Liquid Silver Necklace or Chain! ="times">
Liquid Silver is the term that refers to jewelry made from strands of tiny sterling beads that flow like a liquid in the hand. They pick up light in wonderful, bright reflection, and can either be worn alone, or twisted and used to hold a pendant, especially any contemporary design or inlay. The look is very clean and contemporary and won't fight with the design of the pendant. The individual strands are hand strung with tiny beads upon multi-strand nylon thread for strength, then gathered into tapered sterling cones at the top with lobster claw and twisted loop closures. Originally, the style was first created by the Rosetta family of Santo Domingo Pueblo to approximate handmade heishi beads in sterling. They were and still are quite expensive, and each bead strand is a much larger diameter than these. These strands use machine made beads to bring the diameter of each strand to around 1/342" or so. Together, the resulting necklace or chain has a nice, substantial weight to it, so it feels good while worn. As all sterling silver items, we don't recommend wearing them upon a white sweater, as rubbing while wearing may mark the cloth with grey tarnish smudges. The necklaces are best maintained with a flat-ware cloth on a hard smooth surface before each wearing, and are best stored twisted three times, then hooked together, coiled and kept in a ziplock bag to keep the air off. This will preserve the bright finish. If tarnished, they can be restored using a dip cleaner, or a ultrasonic jewelry cleaner.
