| Traditional Platero Style Design, Modern Stones by James Martin.="times"> These Navajo handmade earrings feature traditional, "Platero" style appliqué settings. This style of Navajo work draws its name from the Mexican silverworkers who were inspiration for early Navajo work. It focuses on swirls of floral and vine motifs, and is intricate and very distinctively Navajo. The stones, on the other hand are bright, fresh examples of laboratory grown opal, which usually carries more fire than is found in mined opals. Another benefit of the lab-grown opals, which are not doublets, or crushed, but actual, grown crystals, is that they tend to be less fragile than mined stones, and are easier to cut. The earrings measure 1" long, and have posts set at one end. Another nice thing about lab-created opal is the much, much lower price! We've been working to keep our customers coming back since 1985.
