| Rare Zuni Pueblo Traditional, Thin-walled Decorated Bowl="times"> This contemporary vase features native clay, traditionally coiled and hand-formed, with polychrome slip painted decoration and a high-sharply turned shoulder and flaring rim. These elements are typical of Zuni potter following the Zunis sojourn to Hopi where many Hopi stylistic elements were added to the Zuni pottery tradition. It features a four-directions/floral design inside and a corn/clouds,eagle/rain motif around the outside, a single border scribes the flaring rim section with a broken "spirit" path. This wood-fired dough bowl was created by famed potter, Carlos Laate in the 1990s. The slip colors are traditional for Zuni Pottery. It is 3 1/8" high, 8" diameter. Zuni pottery was relatively thcik-walled work until the advent of two teachers to the Zuni high school in the 1960s. These teachers, Acoma Potters, taught the tradition of thin walled pottery to the eager Zuni students. Most Zuni pottery made nowadays, if of this thin-walled construction.
