This wonderful 2 strand necklace features traditional, completely handmade turquoise beads & jet beads. Jet is the name used in jewelry for lignite coal, which is very plentiful in parts of NM and AZ. Turquoise, from an old shaft mine near Santo Domingo Pueblo in Cerrillos, NM has been used for bead and mosaic work by the Southwestern indigenous people for more than 1000 years. This necklace measures 20" long, overall, with sterling beads, cones and hook/clasp. A single turquoise bead has been lost from one strand, but it blends in well so it is hardly noticeable. We have sdiscounted it at 30% off from gallery prices. The artist is well-known beadmaker Delphinita Calabaza. Santo Domingo Pueblo is the last location where this type of bead-making is still done regularly -- with amazing results! If you are interested in traditional Pueblo necklaces, especially something as striking as this unusual necklace, or need a perfect gift for a collector, don't let it get away from you! We've been working to keep our customers coming back since 1985 -- We ship fast, always insure packages, and accept returns. We hope you'll be one of our many regulars.
