Zuni CJ Weekah BIG Serpentine Frog Fetish Carving

This wonderful eagle features carving by C J Weekaha of Zuni Pueblo, in beautiful green serpentine, also called frog rock! It is carved in a natural, crouching position in full textured detail, from its base, and has great details including an inlaid turquoise eyes! He measures 2 1/8" long and 1 1/2" high. The artist's signature appears on the bottom.

Hand carved fetish animals have been produced by the Southwestern American Indian Nations for millennia, but since the 1920s, the growth of trade and appreciation for this indigenous art form has mushroomed! Known carvers' work is in very high demand by collectors world wide, especially some of the newer, highly detailed styles such as this piece.
