Jemez Pueblo has pioneered the use of two different colored slips for a partial stone-polished/slip decorated pottery. No matter which way it's turned, it presents a different face. The decoration is especially nice with turkey feather and corn plant motifs. The artist, Rachel Shendo, is one of those leading the way in this newest decorative art. Wood-fired, it measures 6 1/2" tall. Jemez Pueblo, in many ways is the leader in a new generation of potters who experiment with new materials and ideas while honoring the older traditions.
